Why? Efforts over 60 minutes require you to start replenishing calories lost. But the gooey nutrition is a staple in fuel belts for marathoners and half marathoners everywhere. Seems to work for my 82-84kg, 33yr old body.Get a group of runners together, and you’ll find as many opinions about gels as there are people-and they’re not always flattering. Plus one 500ml water and one 500ml Tailwind Naked flavour. I also normally have a Clif Nut Butter bar that I'll break off chunks of if the runs go upwards of 3 hrs. So I'm thinking that I'll stick with them. I don't know if anyone has tried taking a Gu gel in -30 Celsius but they get pretty 'gummy'. I dont know how but I also feel like they're tailored slightly more for the conditions here - I'm running/XC skiing in Norway and Finland so it's either super technical trails with elevation for days, or super cold. The flavours are also more interesting and 'Nordic' and a bit 'fresher' than a lot of the gels I've tried, so I'm into them. Each wrapper has 3 blocks with each block being the equivalent of 1 gel. There's also less packaging with the Nosht chews. I've recently started using the Finnish brand Nosht and am really liking them! I was using Gu for ages before that but apart from the espresso one they all got pretty sickly pretty quickly.
